Bahrain is commemorating World Ozone Day, focusing on the importance of the Montreal Protocol in fixing the ozone layer and reducing climate change. His Highness Shaikh Abdullah bin Hamad Al Khalifa, Chairman of the Supreme Council for Environment (SCE), emphasized Bahrain’s commitment to global efforts in protecting the ozone layer through innovative projects aligned with international environmental standards. This dedication is in line with the directives of His Majesty King Hamad bin Isa Al Khalifa and the support of His Royal Highness Prince Salman bin Hamad Al Khalifa, the Crown Prince and Prime Minister.

Bahrain has recently ratified the Montreal Protocol and the Kigali Amendment, showcasing its dedication to international initiatives aimed at safeguarding the ozone layer and mitigating climate change. The country’s commitment to reducing ozone-depleting substances by 73.5% by 2025 demonstrates its efforts to meet the requirements of the Montreal Protocol and enhance global cooperation on emission reduction. The Chairman of the SCE expressed gratitude to all those involved in environmental work for their contributions to protecting the ozone layer.

The SCE will continue to support the refrigeration and air conditioning sectors by promoting best practices in managing and decreasing the use of ozone-depleting substances. By implementing initiatives that align with international standards, Bahrain aims to contribute positively to the protection of the ozone layer and the environment. These efforts are crucial in achieving sustainable development and addressing the challenges posed by climate change.
