At least six people were injured in a Russian strike on a Kharkiv apartment building, while two men were killed in Kherson. In Kharkiv, emergency crews rushed to rescue residents after a nine-storey apartment building was targeted in the early hours of Monday. Among the casualties was a 16-year-old girl, with three apartments on the upper floors being destroyed. In the port city of Kherson, an elderly man was killed by explosives dropped from a drone, while another man was killed by artillery fire. Russia’s Ministry of Defence reported shooting down 21 Ukrainian drones overnight in regions like Belgorod, Bryansk, Voronezh, and Kursk.

Following Bulgaria’s parliamentary election, the centre-right GERB party of former Prime Minister Boyko Borissov emerged as the winner. Exit poll results showed them in first place, with the main pro-Russia Vazrazhdane party receiving weaker results than expected. Vazrazhdane has pushed for lifting sanctions against Russia, stopping aid to Ukraine, and holding a NATO membership referendum. Despite being isolated in parliament currently, if mainstream parties fail to resolve the deadlock, Vazrazhdane’s popularity could increase, potentially shifting Bulgaria’s pro-Western stance. Lithuania’s newly elected Social Democratic Party aims to spend at least 3.5% of its GDP on defense, amidst fears about Moscow’s intentions, particularly in the Baltic region.

The US Republican vice-presidential nominee JD Vance referred to Moscow as an adversary of the US but cautioned against approaching Russia as an enemy. Vance emphasized that the Trump administration is committed to NATO, seen as a deterrent against further Russian aggression in Europe. He made these remarks during Sunday talk show appearances, just nine days before election day. Vance emphasized that the US is not at war with Russia and that he does not seek conflict with Vladimir Putin’s government. This perspective contrasts with the growing concerns about Russian actions in Eastern Europe and the Baltic region.

In Voronezh, a drone attack caused a fire at an industrial facility, resulting in injuries to one person, according to Governor Alexander Gusev. Emergency services responded to the scene to contain the fire. Additionally, near an ethanol plant in the village of Krasnoye, two explosions were reported, although these claims could not be independently verified by Euronews. The ongoing conflict between Russia and Ukraine continues to escalate, with reports of drone attacks, artillery fire, and casualties from both sides. The impact of these attacks extends to industrial facilities and residential buildings, causing injuries and fatalities in various regions.

The situation in Ukraine remains volatile as Russian forces continue their attacks, causing casualties and destruction in cities like Kharkiv and Kherson. The conflict has also led to drone attacks in regions like Voronezh, resulting in fires and injuries at industrial facilities. Meanwhile, political developments in Bulgaria, Lithuania, and the US reflect the growing concerns about Russia’s actions and intentions in Eastern Europe. While mainstream parties strive to maintain pro-Western stances and commitments to NATO, there are indications of rising support for pro-Russia parties like Vazrazhdane in Bulgaria. Amidst these tensions, efforts to de-escalate conflicts and promote dialogue between nations become crucial to avoiding further violence and instability.
