Al-Jasser: Saudi Arabia spends SR 200 billion on National Transport Strategy implementation out of planned SR1 trillion

The National Strategy for Transport and Logistics in Saudi Arabia aims to invest over SR1 trillion by 2030 with SR200 billion already being spent. The Kingdom has seen significant improvements in global rankings on various indices due to the huge spending in the sector. Minister of Transport and Logistics Eng. Saleh Al-Jasser highlighted the role of investments in infrastructure, simplifying customs procedures, and innovation in boosting the growth of logistics and the national economy. Vision 2030 aims to make Saudi Arabia a global logistics hub, connecting it to important trade networks and routes. The Kingdom is working on several projects such as King Salman International Airport and modernizing railway networks to achieve this goal.

Al-Jasser emphasized the importance of ensuring the safety and security of the supply chain, especially in times of turmoil, to allow for global economies to flourish. With Saudi Arabia’s strategic position in global connectivity, he stressed the need for strong collaboration between the public and private sectors to address challenges and shape a sustainable future for the logistics sector. The forum aims to facilitate discussions on these issues and promote cooperation in achieving prosperity for all. In line with sustainability efforts, the Kingdom has taken steps to reduce carbon emissions by transitioning transportation from trucks to railroads, removing one million trucks from the streets in the past year.

The Global Logistics Forum, held under the patronage of Custodian of the Two Holy Mosques King Salman, is organized by the Ministry of Transport and Logistic Services. The event provides a platform for logistics experts and leaders to collaborate and shape the future of the sector. Through discussions and cooperation, the forum seeks to address challenges facing the logistics industry and work towards achieving a sustainable future. With a focus on public-private sector partnerships and sustainability initiatives like the Saudi Green Initiative, Saudi Arabia is taking steps to become a global leader in logistics.
