A 51-year-old Asian man who has been working as a dental technician in Bahrain for over 15 years is facing a court verdict on September 16th after being accused of using forged credentials to obtain his license. The case came to light after a personal dispute led to an anonymous report of the forged documents to the National Health Regulatory Authority (NHRA). The NHRA received an email in April-May 2022 alleging that the man’s dental technician certificate was fraudulent, prompting an investigation.

The NHRA verified the authenticity of the man’s academic credentials through a specialized company and discovered that he had submitted forged certificates in 2006. Based on these documents, he was granted a license to practice dentistry in 2007, which was renewed annually until May 13, 2022. During the investigation, the man confessed to the charges, admitting that he had conspired with a friend in his home country to obtain a fake university certificate in order to obtain the dental technician license.

He filled out a form with false information, claiming to have a diploma in dental technology from a university and attached a forged copy of the diploma to his application. This deception led to the issuance of a one-year dental technician license from the Ministry of Health, which he continued to renew annually until 2022. The Public Prosecution charged the man with manipulating the Ministry of Health’s registration and licensing office’s information technology system from 2005 to 2022, as well as altering renewal forms to falsely claim he was practicing with a legitimate license.

The investigation confirmed that both the academic certificate and the transcript presented to the Ministry of Health were forged, ultimately resulting in the issuance of the dental technician license. Now, the court will make a decision on the man’s fate on September 16th. It is important to note the significance of obtaining legitimate credentials and licenses in any professional field to maintain the integrity of the industry and ensure the safety and well-being of clients and patients.
