Qatar secured their first victory in the third round of the FIFA World Cup 2026 Asian Qualifiers against Kyrgyzstan with a 3-1 win at Al Thumama Stadium. The match saw striker Almoez Ali scoring the opening goal in the 39th minute, followed by Tamirlan Kozubaev’s own goal in the 63rd minute to double the lead. Although Alimardon Shukurov managed to cut the lead for Kyrgyzstan in the 76th minute, substitute Ibrahim Al Hassan quickly restored the two-goal lead for Qatar, sealing the victory.

The victory pushed Qatar to the fourth spot in Group A, with four points after losing to UAE and drawing against North Korea in their previous matches. Uzbekistan remained at the top of the group on goal difference after a goalless draw against Iran, who are second in the group. Both teams have secured seven points from three matches. In a surprise announcement, the scheduled match between Qatar and Iran has been moved to a neutral venue in the UAE due to security concerns. The decision was made after consultations with FIFA and other stakeholders.

The Qatar supporters were thrilled with the team’s performance as they cheered on during the match against Kyrgyzstan. The Marquez Lopez-coached side displayed a strong performance, bouncing back from previous setbacks to secure a much-needed victory. The team’s morale is high as they look forward to facing Iran in the upcoming match at a neutral venue in the UAE. The win against Kyrgyzstan has boosted Qatar’s confidence and placed them in a better position in the group standings.

The upcoming match against Iran is crucial for Qatar as they aim to continue their winning momentum in the FIFA World Cup 2026 Asian Qualifiers. The decision to play at a neutral venue in the UAE ensures the safety and security of the players and fans. The AFC’s announcement regarding the venue change reflects their commitment to ensuring a smooth and secure environment for all stakeholders involved. Qatar will be looking to capitalize on their recent victory and secure another three points in the upcoming match against Iran.

The Qatar national team’s performance in the FIFA World Cup 2026 Asian Qualifiers has shown promise and potential. With a talented squad and strong coaching staff, Qatar has the ability to compete against top teams in the region. The recent victory against Kyrgyzstan serves as a testament to the team’s resilience and determination. As they prepare to face Iran in the next match, Qatar will be aiming to continue their winning streak and climb up the group standings. The support from the fans and the team’s dedication will be crucial in their quest for qualification to the FIFA World Cup 2026.
