The Bahraini government has assured members of Parliament that the unemployment insurance system is stable, with 15,000 people currently receiving support. In response to a proposal for a new job interview form, the government stated that existing procedures are effective in matching job seekers with employment opportunities and handling payments smoothly. On average, there are between 12,000 and 15,000 unemployment registrations each year, with regular payments made to those who follow the rules. Job placement, training, and hiring services are still available to all job seekers, even if their benefits are stopped.

It is important to note that benefits are only stopped when a person finds work, retires, or becomes self-employed. The government emphasized that ceasing benefits does not impact how the national unemployment rate is calculated. Those whose benefits are discontinued are still classified as unemployed unless they secure employment and continue to attend monthly reviews and submit job applications. Employers can post job openings on the Ministry of Labour’s online system, where pay rates and qualifications are verified.

Once job postings are approved, they are listed for candidates to apply, provided they meet the employer’s requirements. This ensures a fair and transparent process for both job seekers and employers. The government’s statement highlights the importance of maintaining a robust unemployment insurance system to support those in need while also encouraging individuals to actively seek employment opportunities. By offering job placement, training, and hiring services, the government aims to help job seekers find suitable positions and contribute to the country’s workforce.

Overall, the Bahraini government’s commitment to supporting unemployed individuals through the unemployment insurance system is evident by the 15,000 people currently receiving benefits. With procedures in place to facilitate job matching and payment handling, the government aims to ensure a smooth transition for individuals seeking employment. By providing job placement, training, and hiring services, the government continues to assist job seekers in finding suitable work opportunities. Employers also play a crucial role by posting job openings on the Ministry of Labour’s online system, allowing candidates to apply based on their qualifications and the employer’s requirements.
