The Saudi Olympic and Paralympic Committee will be sending nine male and female athletes to compete in various events at the 17th Summer Paralympics in Paris. This marks the largest Saudi delegation in the history of the tournament, with athletes participating in sports such as athletics, weightlifting, taekwondo, table tennis, and dressage riding. Prince Abdulaziz bin Turki Al-Faisal, president of the committee, expressed gratitude to King Salman and Crown Prince Mohammed bin Salman for their support of the sports sector in the Kingdom, which has enabled Saudi participation in major sporting events.

The Kingdom’s participation in the Paralympic Games dates back to 1996, when two athletes competed in Atlanta. Since then, the number of participants has grown steadily, with Saudi athletes achieving success in events such as athletics, weightlifting, and taekwondo. Notable achievements include a gold medal in the triple jump and a silver medal in the high jump at the Beijing Games, as well as silver and bronze medals in discus throw and shot put at the Rio de Janeiro Olympics.

The athletes representing Saudi Arabia in Paralympic athletics include Abdulrahman Al-Qurashi, Hassan Doshi, Noor Al-Sanaa, Sarah Al-Juma, and Ali Al-Nakhli. Adnan Saeed will compete in weightlifting, Ayad Al-Treik in taekwondo, Ghalia Al-Anzi in table tennis, and Ahmed Al-Sharbatli in dressage riding. The Kingdom’s presence in these events is a testament to the growing support and attention given to sports for people with disabilities in Saudi Arabia.

The Saudi Olympic and Paralympic Committee’s focus on promoting sports for individuals with disabilities reflects a broader commitment to inclusivity and diversity in the Kingdom. King Salman and Crown Prince Mohammed bin Salman have played a key role in supporting the sports sector and ensuring that Saudi athletes have the opportunity to compete on the international stage. The success of Saudi athletes in previous Paralympic Games is a source of pride for the Kingdom and serves as inspiration for future generations.

The participation of Saudi athletes in the 17th Summer Paralympics in Paris is a significant milestone in the Kingdom’s sporting history. The expanded delegation and inclusion of athletes in a variety of events demonstrate Saudi Arabia’s commitment to promoting inclusivity and diversity in sports. As the athletes prepare to compete against the world’s best, they carry with them the support and encouragement of the Saudi people, as well as the leadership of King Salman and Crown Prince Mohammed bin Salman.

In conclusion, the Saudi delegation to the 17th Summer Paralympics in Paris represents a historic moment for the Kingdom’s sporting community. The athletes competing in events such as athletics, weightlifting, taekwondo, table tennis, and dressage riding showcase the talent and dedication of individuals with disabilities in Saudi Arabia. With the support of the Saudi Olympic and Paralympic Committee, as well as the backing of King Salman and Crown Prince Mohammed bin Salman, these athletes have the opportunity to make a mark on the international stage and inspire others to pursue their own sporting dreams.
