The Labour Market Regulatory Authority (LMRA) in Bahrain recently conducted 1,714 inspections between 18 and 24 August 2024, resulting in the detention of 45 illegal and non-compliant workers. In addition, 181 violators were deported during this period. These inspections revealed various breaches of regulations outlined in the Labour Market Regulatory Authority Law and the Residency Law of Bahrain, leading to legal action being taken where violations were found.
The majority of the inspections, 1,702 in total, were carried out across commercial establishments in all governorates of Bahrain. Furthermore, 12 joint operations were conducted, with seven in the Capital Governorate, one in Muharraq, and two in both the Northern and Southern Governorates. These joint efforts involved the collaboration of the Ministry of Interior, Nationality, Passports and Residence Affairs, local police, and the Directorate of Verdict Enforcement and Alternative Sentencing.
The LMRA emphasized the importance of working together with other government bodies to increase inspections throughout Bahrain’s governorates. The goal is to address violations that could potentially disrupt the labour market or pose a threat to the economic and social security of the kingdom.
