The Zakat, Tax and Customs Authority in Saudi Arabia is dedicated to creating a favorable environment for traders and investors by ensuring fair market competition and compliance with zakat, tax, and customs regulations. Compliance with these regulations will lead to increased business activities, in line with the goals of Vision 2030, and will contribute to the growth and diversification of the national economy. The authority provides 130 guiding principles on its website to educate taxpayers on procedures and services, and officials conduct regular inspections to monitor the tax situation and prevent evasion.

Tax evasion cases are dealt with through the rules and procedures outlined in the value added tax (VAT) and Selective Tax mechanisms. The authority may publicly penalize tax evaders to hold them accountable and discourage others from engaging in such practices. Al-Harbi emphasizes the importance of combatting tax evasion, submitting incorrect data, and fabricating or modifying invoices. Taxpayers are encouraged to cooperate with the authority and provide accurate information voluntarily to ensure fairness in the tax system.

Individuals are urged to report cases of tax evasion, and the authority provides rewards of up to 2.5 percent of the value of violations and fines, with a maximum of SR1 million and a minimum of SR1,000, for valid reports. ZATCA can be reached for inquiries through the unified call center number 19993, email, social media platforms, and instant chats on the authority’s website. By promoting transparency and accountability in tax compliance, the authority aims to improve the national economy and create a level playing field for all taxpayers.

Overall, the Zakat, Tax and Customs Authority in Saudi Arabia is committed to promoting fair market competition and compliance with regulations to stimulate business activities and contribute to the growth and diversification of the national economy. With a focus on combatting tax evasion and encouraging voluntary compliance, the authority provides guidance and support to taxpayers through its website and conducts regular inspections to monitor tax situations. By reporting cases of tax evasion and cooperating with the authority, individuals can contribute to a more transparent and efficient tax system that benefits the overall economy.
