UAE: Qasr Al Watan library introduces free membership

Qasr Al Watan library in Abu Dhabi is now offering free memberships to all residents and citizens of the UAE. This initiative is aimed at increasing access to knowledge and removing barriers for reading enthusiasts. The library, which is affiliated with the Abu Dhabi Arabic Language Center, provides access to a diverse collection of titles and educational resources. Those interested in obtaining membership can do so by registering on the Abu Dhabi Department of Culture and Tourism website.

Jumaa Al Dhaheri, the Director of Specialized Libraries at the Abu Dhabi Center for Arabic Language, highlighted that the goal of this initiative is to promote lifelong learning and establish a culture of reading, which ultimately contributes to raising cultural awareness and supporting the Arabic language. The library itself serves as an important historical reference, showcasing key cultural milestones in Abu Dhabi. It houses rare manuscripts and historical books, and also hosts regular cultural and educational events to promote a reading culture.

In the first half of the year, the Qasr Al Watan library welcomed around 270,000 visitors, marking a significant growth rate of 46% compared to the previous year. This increase reflects the public’s growing interest in learning and culture. The library’s working hours are from 11:00am to 4:30pm, Sunday to Thursday. Overall, the free membership offer at Qasr Al Watan library presents a valuable opportunity for residents and citizens in the UAE to have access to a wide range of educational resources. The increase in visitors to the library demonstrates a growing interest in knowledge and culture within the community.
