The Social Protection Fund in Muscat will start accepting applications for the Family Income Support Benefit for all segments of society starting Sunday. This program offers monthly financial assistance to families in lower income groups, based on their income level and ability to earn. Eligible families include the husband, wife, non-working children up to age 26, and non-working unmarried or divorced daughters under the age of 40 without children. Applicants must provide necessary documents, such as bank statements and official certificates, to prove eligibility.

According to the Social Protection Law, families residing in Oman with at least one Omani member are eligible for the Family Income Support Benefit if their total income is below a specified level. The benefit is distributed based on regulations that outline criteria for eligibility, suspension, and resumption of payments. The program aims to improve the living conditions of families in need and is part of efforts to achieve sustainable development goals and targets set by Oman Vision 2024.

The Director General of Entitlements at the Social Protection Fund confirmed that the Family Income Support Benefit has replaced the social security pension, leading to positive outcomes in line with Oman’s development objectives. The integration of social security and retirement systems under unified management will enhance coordination and align strategies to ensure efficiency and better support for families in need. This consolidation is expected to bridge gaps in social protection coverage and promote a decent standard of living for beneficiaries.

In the initial phase of the program, the Family Income Support Benefit was disbursed to over 12,000 families, with an average value of OMR135 per beneficiary. The highest benefit value recorded was OMR398. North Al Batinah Governorate had the highest number of beneficiary families, followed by Muscat Governorate and South Al Sharqiyah Governorate. The program aims to reach more families in need across different governorates in Oman to provide them with financial assistance and improve their quality of life.

To apply for the Family Income Support Benefit, eligible families must submit their applications with all required documents through the Fund’s website. The support aims to assist families with lower incomes and help them meet their basic needs. By disbursing financial aid to those in need, the program contributes to the overall well-being of society and aligns with Oman’s vision for sustainable development and social welfare.

Overall, the Family Income Support Benefit program in Muscat offers crucial financial assistance to families in need, helping them achieve a better standard of living and access essential resources. By adhering to eligibility criteria and submitting required documents, families can benefit from this program and improve their quality of life. The initiative aligns with Oman’s objectives for sustainable development and social welfare, aiming to provide comprehensive support to vulnerable segments of society.
