Salama Cooperative Insurance Company has appointed a loss assessor, licensed by the Insurance Authority, to assess the damages caused by a massive fire that broke out in the Jeddah International Market last week. The insurer stated that the policy is reinsured with reinsurers, in compliance with relevant rules and regulations. Updates on the incident will be provided as they become available. The fire, which occurred on September 29, resulted in the collapse of the market’s facade and the devastation of most shops and outlets.

The Jeddah International Market, located close to Madinah Road in the Al-Rawdah district, saw a massive fire breakout that claimed the lives of two Civil Defense soldiers. The fire was successfully extinguished after nearly 14 hours of fighting by over 20 firefighting and rescue units from Jeddah and Makkah. The market, established in 1981, is renowned for its shops offering perfumes, watches, jewelry, clothing, electronics, boutiques, and restaurants. Sadly, many of these shops and stalls were destroyed in the fire, leading to significant losses for the owners.

The Jeddah International Market fire was a devastating incident that caused extensive damage to the market and resulted in tragic casualties. Salama Cooperative Insurance Company is working diligently to assess the damages and provide support to the affected parties through their reinsurance policies. As one of the oldest shopping malls in Jeddah, the market holds significant historical and commercial value, making the fire’s impact even more profound.

The Civil Defense soldiers who lost their lives while battling the blaze are being mourned by the community, highlighting the heroic efforts made to contain the fire and save lives. The cooperation between various firefighting units from Jeddah and Makkah underscores the importance of swift and efficient response in such emergencies. The market’s long-standing reputation as a hub for diverse shopping experiences adds to the gravity of the losses incurred due to the fire.

Salama Cooperative Insurance Company’s prompt response in appointing a licensed loss assessor demonstrates their commitment to assisting the market owners and stakeholders in recovering from the fire incident. The reassurance of a reinsured policy provides a sense of security to those impacted by the devastation, knowing that their losses will be assessed and compensated appropriately. The updates provided by the insurance company will be crucial in keeping all concerned parties informed about the developments following the fire.

Moving forward, efforts to rebuild and restore the Jeddah International Market will require collaboration from various stakeholders, including insurance companies, local authorities, and business owners. The resilience of the community in the face of such adversity will be tested, but with collective support and determination, the market can rise from the ashes and regain its former glory. The tragic events of the fire serve as a reminder of the importance of disaster preparedness and the need for robust insurance coverage to protect against unforeseen circumstances.
