Sheikh Mohammed bin Rashid Al Maktoum, Vice-President and Prime Minister of the UAE, recently visited the global research centre of Himalaya Wellness in Dubai Science Park. The 55,000-square-foot research centre is responsible for developing a wide range of products that are exported to over 100 countries. During his visit, Sheikh Mohammed was briefed on the activities of the research centre, which focuses on innovating and developing natural pharmaceutical products, herbal-based medicines, and dietary supplements.

The Ruler emphasized the importance of research and development (R&D) in the UAE, stating that it is a vital sector that contributes to the country’s sustainable development and future-readiness. He highlighted the government’s commitment to providing the necessary infrastructure, environment, and support to foster the growth of the R&D sector. Sheikh Mohammed also stressed the importance of fostering partnerships between the private and public sectors, nurturing talent, and promoting a culture of knowledge-based excellence to create a thriving R&D ecosystem.

Founded in 1930, Himalaya Wellness is a global herbal health and personal care brand with nearly 500 products sold worldwide. The company’s global research centre is one of the R&D facilities that contribute to the science-focused ecosystem created by the TECOM Group. Dubai Science Park, where the research centre is located, is part of the TECOM Group’s portfolio of business districts, which also includes Dubai Internet City, Dubai Media City, Dubai Knowledge Park, and others.

Sheikh Mohammed’s visit to the Himalaya Wellness research centre was accompanied by Malek Al Malek, Director-General of the Dubai Development Authority and Chairman of the TECOM Group. The visit showcased the UAE’s commitment to promoting innovation and technological advancement through research and development initiatives. By investing in R&D and creating a conducive environment for scientific research, the UAE aims to remain at the forefront of innovation on a global scale.

In conclusion, Sheikh Mohammed’s visit to the Himalaya Wellness research centre highlights the UAE’s dedication to supporting research and development initiatives. The government’s efforts to create a thriving R&D ecosystem through partnerships between the public and private sectors, talent nurturing, and knowledge-based excellence demonstrate the country’s commitment to innovation and sustainability. By investing in R&D and promoting a culture of scientific advancement, the UAE is positioning itself as a key player in the global innovation landscape.
