Ashghal, Qatar’s Public Works Authority, has announced a partial road closure of the Sharg Intersection in Doha. The closure will affect traffic from C-Ring Road to Al Corniche Street and the right turn to Ras Abu Aboud Street, leading to Hamad International Airport. This move is part of the Flood Prevention Scheme – Phase 3 and will be in effect from midnight on September 20 to 5am on September 22, 2020. The closure aims to facilitate the necessary construction works for the project.

During the closure, motorists traveling from C-Ring Road are advised to turn left at Al Rufaa Intersection and then right at Museum Intersection to reach Al Corniche Street. To access Hamad International Airport, drivers can follow the same route and use the tunnel leading to Ras Abu Aboud Road. Detour signs and instructions will be in place to guide drivers through the alternative routes. The map provided shows the suggested detour path for those affected by the closure.

The closure of Sharg Intersection is a crucial step in the implementation of the Flood Prevention Scheme – Phase 3, which aims to enhance the city’s infrastructure and protect it from potential flood risks. Ashghal has been actively working on various projects to improve the drainage and sewage systems in Doha, ensuring the safety and well-being of its residents. The road closure is a temporary inconvenience that will contribute to the long-term resilience of the city’s infrastructure.

By proactively addressing flood prevention measures, Ashghal demonstrates its commitment to sustainable development and urban planning in Qatar. The temporary road closure at Sharg Intersection is part of a larger initiative to mitigate potential flood risks and ensure the safety of residents and commuters in Doha. With climate change contributing to more frequent and severe weather events, such infrastructure projects are essential for the city’s resilience and preparedness.

In addition to road closures and construction works, Ashghal is also focused on community engagement and public awareness initiatives. Information about the road closure at Sharg Intersection has been disseminated through various channels to ensure that residents and motorists are well-informed about the upcoming changes in traffic flow. By maintaining transparent communication and providing clear instructions, Ashghal aims to minimize inconvenience for the public while carrying out essential infrastructure works.

As Qatar continues to grow and develop, projects like the Flood Prevention Scheme – Phase 3 are vital for the sustainable development of its cities. By investing in infrastructure upgrades and flood prevention measures, Ashghal is paving the way for a safer and more resilient future for Doha. The temporary road closure at Sharg Intersection is just one example of the ongoing efforts to enhance the city’s infrastructure and ensure its long-term sustainability. Residents and motorists are encouraged to follow the detour routes and comply with traffic regulations during the closure period for a smooth and safe traffic flow.
