Saudi Minister of Culture Prince Badr bin Abdullah and Qatari Minister of Culture Sheikh Abdulrahman bin Hamad Al Thani recently co-chaired the first meeting of the Culture, Tourism, and Entertainment Committee of the Saudi-Qatari Coordination Council. The meeting, which took place at the Riyadh International Book Fair, focused on discussing the achievements, objectives, and initiatives of the committee in the cultural, tourism, and entertainment domains. Several recommendations were adopted with the aim of enhancing cooperation between the two countries.

Saudi Arabia and Qatar have a history of close ties and are working towards further cooperation and integration, in alignment with the Saudi Vision 2030 and Qatar’s National Vision 2030. The meeting between Prince Badr and Sheikh Abdulrahman highlights the commitment of both countries to strengthen cultural, tourism, and entertainment partnerships for mutual benefit. The discussions at the meeting set the stage for continued collaboration in various sectors to promote shared goals and interests.

During the meeting, the ministers also visited the Riyadh International Book Fair, where the State of Qatar was the guest of honor. The fair featured participation from around 2,000 publishing houses from 30 countries, bringing together Saudi and international writers, publishers, and readers. The fair serves as a platform for cultural exchange and knowledge sharing, reinforcing the importance of literature and the arts in fostering understanding and collaboration between nations.

The Saudi-Qatari Coordination Council’s Culture, Tourism, and Entertainment Committee plays a crucial role in facilitating partnerships and initiatives that promote cultural exchange and cooperation between the two countries. Prince Badr and Sheikh Abdulrahman’s leadership in co-chairing the committee’s first meeting demonstrates a shared commitment to advancing cultural diplomacy and enhancing mutual understanding through various cultural, tourism, and entertainment activities. By working together, Saudi Arabia and Qatar can leverage their respective strengths to further enrich their cultural landscapes and promote global awareness of their rich heritage.

The recommendations adopted at the committee’s meeting are expected to pave the way for increased collaboration in cultural, tourism, and entertainment initiatives between Saudi Arabia and Qatar. These efforts align with the broader objectives of both countries’ vision plans, which prioritize cultural development and the promotion of arts and heritage as key drivers of economic and social growth. By investing in cultural exchange and creative industries, Saudi Arabia and Qatar can strengthen their soft power and enhance their global standing as hubs of creativity and innovation.

Overall, the meeting between the Saudi and Qatari ministers of culture at the Riyadh International Book Fair underscores the shared commitment of both countries to fostering cultural cooperation and exchange. As they work together to implement the recommendations of the committee, Saudi Arabia and Qatar can look forward to deepening their cultural ties, enhancing tourism opportunities, and promoting their entertainment industries on a global stage. With a focus on collaboration and mutual benefit, the Culture, Tourism, and Entertainment Committee of the Saudi-Qatari Coordination Council is poised to play a pivotal role in advancing cultural diplomacy and fostering lasting partnerships between the two nations.
