Noora T., a Dubai resident, recently had to replace her refrigerator and air conditioner due to the excessive humidity in her house. The high humidity levels have been reaching over 80 per cent in various parts of the country, despite temperatures averaging around 40 degrees. This has led to various issues such as cracks on walls, water leakage, and jammed doors and gates.

One resident, Mohammed Iqbal, experienced a crack on his wall and had a mirror fall off due to the intense humidity. He mentioned that this summer has been one of the worst in his two decades in the UAE, with water dripping from his false ceiling throughout the day. Another expat, Mehnaz A., faced issues with her jammed front door and gate in her Jumeirah villa. She highlighted the need for regular maintenance of air-conditioning units, especially during the hot weather, to prevent such issues from occurring.

Experts have emphasized the importance of maintaining air-conditioning units during the summer months to avoid damage caused by high humidity. Hiba Sakkir, a resident in Remraam, noticed a spike in her electricity bill and reduced AC cooling, leading her to discover that her AC filter had accumulated dust. After the filter was cleaned by a maintenance team, her issues were resolved. The extreme humidity has been affecting residents in different ways, from damaging appliances to causing structural issues in homes.

It is essential for residents in Dubai to take precautions during the high humidity periods to prevent damage to their properties and appliances. Noora T., who had to replace her refrigerator and air conditioner, has ordered a dehumidifier to avoid similar issues in the future.
