Qatar Permanent Mission, HBKU, and WTO to host session at WTO annual forum

The Permanent Mission of the State of Qatar to the United Nations Office in Geneva, in collaboration with HBKU and WTO, will be hosting a session titled “Sustainable Trade and Entrepreneurship: Pathways to Re-globalization” at this year’s WTO Public Forum in Geneva. The forum, under the theme Re-Globalization: Better Trade for a Better World, will emphasize the importance of trade facilitation in promoting sustainable development and entrepreneurship. The session is scheduled for September 12th and will feature a panel of experts discussing the integration of sustainability into global trade practices and the promotion of sustainable entrepreneurship.

Key speakers at the event will include H E Dr. Hend bint Abdalrahman Mohamed Al Muftah, Ahmed Al Sulaiti, Dr. Damilola S. Olawuyi (SAN), Dr. Mena Hassan, and Elena Athwal. The panel will explore strategies to align global trade practices with the UN Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs), focusing on innovative approaches for integrating sustainability into trade, addressing challenges and opportunities in promoting sustainable entrepreneurship, and examining the role of digitalization and innovation in fostering inclusive trade practices. The session will also highlight Qatar’s efforts in embracing innovation to align its judicial processes with the SDGs, particularly SDG 16.

Discussions at the session will delve into actionable strategies for aligning global trade practices with the UN SDGs. Experts will explore innovative approaches for integrating sustainability into trade, addressing challenges and opportunities in promoting sustainable entrepreneurship, and examining the role of digitalization and innovation in fostering inclusive trade practices. The session will also highlight Qatar’s efforts in embracing innovation to align its judicial processes with the SDGs, particularly SDG 16, focusing on peace, justice, and strong institutions.

Key speakers include representatives from the State of Qatar, the WTO, and HBKU, who will share their insights on integrating sustainability into global trade practices and promoting sustainable entrepreneurship.
