Qatar Fund for Development (QFFD) has signed a $10 million contribution agreement with the UN-OHRLLS to support the implementation of the Doha Programme of Action (2023-2031). This contribution is part of a larger commitment of $60 million made by Qatar during the Fifth UN Conference on the Least Developed Countries. The signing ceremony was attended by high-level officials, including the Minister of State for International Cooperation and the Acting Director General of QFFD.

The Doha Programme of Action aims to address the unique challenges faced by Least Developed Countries (LDCs) through renewed commitments between LDCs and their development partners. It outlines a transformative agenda to promote sustainable development, economic growth, and resilience building measures such as food security mechanisms. Qatar’s ongoing support for the Office of the High Representative demonstrates its commitment to empowering vulnerable countries and creating a fairer and more resilient world.

QFFD’s contribution will strengthen the Office’s ability to address the challenges faced by LDCs and work towards achieving the key outcomes of the Doha Programme of Action. The partnership will focus on targeted assistance, enhanced cooperation, and innovative solutions to tackle the multifaceted challenges faced by LDCs. The ongoing support from QFFD will be crucial in helping 1.1 billion people across 45 LDCs achieve peace, progress, and prosperity.

Last year, Qatar announced a $60 million contribution to support the implementation of the Doha Programme of Action, with $10 million specifically allocated for monitoring and follow-up activities. The partnership between QFFD and UN-OHRLLS reflects Qatar’s dedication to advancing the global agenda for inclusive growth and sustainable development. Through continued support and cooperation, Qatar aims to empower LDCs and create a more resilient world for all.

The signing of the contribution agreement at the United Nations General Assembly highlights Qatar’s commitment to supporting vulnerable countries and empowering them to overcome challenges. By working closely with the UN-OHRLLS, Qatar aims to ensure the timely implementation of the Doha Programme of Action and support LDCs in achieving peace, progress, and prosperity. The partnership between QFFD and the UN-OHRLLS reinforces Qatar’s role as a key player in promoting sustainable development and inclusive growth on the global stage.

In conclusion, the $10 million contribution from Qatar to support the implementation of the Doha Programme of Action signifies a significant step towards empowering vulnerable countries and building a more resilient world. Qatar’s commitment to supporting LDCs and promoting inclusive growth reflects its dedication to advancing the global agenda for sustainable development. Through continued cooperation and targeted assistance, Qatar aims to help LDCs overcome challenges and achieve peace, progress, and prosperity for their people.
