The recent heavy rains in Oman, caused by an ongoing tropical depression, have led to flooding and hazardous conditions in several areas. In Sur, multiple people had to be rescued after being trapped by rising waters, including a four-member family and a driver whose vehicle was swept away by floodwaters. Three individuals were also saved by the Search and Rescue Team after their vehicle became stranded in Al Salimiya Wadi in the South Al Sharqiyah Governorate. Thanks to the prompt response of emergency teams, all those rescued are reported to be in good condition.

The South Al Sharqiyah Governorate has been particularly hard-hit by the tropical depression, with thick clouds and varying degrees of rainfall affecting the region. The Civil Aviation Authority (CAA) has confirmed that heavy rain and strong winds will continue to impact the northern governorates. Rainfall amounts are expected to range from 40 to 90 mm in North and South Al Sharqiyah and Muscat, with other regions receiving between 10 and 50 mm. By Thursday, the tropical depression is expected to weaken, with lingering effects mainly in mountainous areas. The CAA has also warned of high waves in the Arabian Sea and the Sea of Oman, urging residents to avoid flooded valleys and follow safety precautions.

Authorities are urging the public to exercise caution, especially in areas prone to flooding, as overflowing valleys pose significant dangers. The Royal Oman Police (ROP) has reported the overflow of several wadis in Sur, leading to traffic disruptions in multiple regions. Scattered rainfall has been recorded in other governorates, adding to the widespread impact of the ongoing tropical depression. With the assistance of emergency teams and the Search and Rescue Team, several individuals have been rescued and are now in good condition.
