Bahrain’s population is predominantly young, with more than two-thirds of the country’s residents under the age of 35. The latest demographic data for the first half of 2024 reveals that 33.1% of Bahrainis fall within the youth category, totaling approximately 245,102 individuals. When combined with the 28% of Bahrainis under the age of 15, the total number of young people in the country reaches 452,625, making up 62% of the total population.

This demographic breakdown highlights the significant role that young people play in shaping Bahrain’s future. With their energy and dynamism, the youth population represents the vibrancy and potential of Bahraini society. It is crucial to invest in education, skills development, and opportunities for young Bahrainis to ensure a bright future for the country.

One interesting trend revealed by the data is the numerical advantage of young women in Bahrain. In the 15-35 age group, there are 126,024 females compared to 119,078 males. This trend continues among children and adolescents under the age of 15, with 101,687 females compared to 105,836 males. It is essential to create equal opportunities for both young men and women to thrive and contribute to Bahrain’s development.

The statistics also show that the 35-60 age group in Bahrain comprises 205,587 individuals, with a near-equal split between men and women. The senior citizen population, those over 60 years old, stands at 81,524, representing 11% of the total Bahraini population. While young people make up the majority of the population, it is crucial to provide support and resources for all age groups to ensure a balanced and inclusive society.

Overall, Bahrain’s demographic makeup underscores the importance of harnessing the potential of its young population. By investing in education, skills training, and creating opportunities for young Bahrainis, the country can drive economic growth and social development. The data highlights the need for policies and programs that cater to the diverse needs of different age groups in Bahrain, ensuring a prosperous future for all residents.
