The Ministry of Labour in Qatar, through the National Committee to Combat Human Trafficking, recently participated in the Third National Forum for Human Rights organized by the National Human Rights Committee. At the forum’s opening, Assistant Undersecretary for Expatriate Labour Affairs Sheikha Najwa bint Abdulrahman Al Thani and Director of the Public Relations and Communication Department Huda Abdulrahman Al Meghiseeb were present among other officials.

During the forum, Fatima Rajab Al Esmail, a Member of the Secretariat of the National Committee to Combat Human Trafficking, presented a paper on ‘Measures to prevent the exploitation of child labour on the Internet’. She highlighted the need for a re-evaluation of the challenges faced by children in the digital age and emphasized the importance of protecting them from exploitation and abuse. The National Committee in Qatar has prioritized safeguarding children’s rights in light of new dangers posed by modern technologies, with a focus on policy development, legal reinforcement, and increased collaboration.

Al Esmail also discussed Qatar’s strict laws to prevent child labor, particularly through the Labour Law which prohibits the employment of minors and enforces penalties for violators. These laws aim to protect children from exploitation and ensure their rights are upheld. The National Committee to Combat Human Trafficking in Qatar is dedicated to working towards the protection of children in the digital sphere through various initiatives and efforts.

During the forum, it was emphasized that the growing dependence on technology and the expansion of the digital realm have led to the need for greater awareness and measures to protect children. The National Committee in Qatar remains committed to addressing these challenges and ensuring the safety and well-being of children. This includes efforts to strengthen policies, enhance legal frameworks, and promote collaboration to combat human trafficking and protect children from exploitation.

The forum served as a platform to discuss the importance of addressing child labor and exploitation in the digital age, and the role of government agencies and organizations in safeguarding children’s rights. Qatar’s commitment to upholding strict laws and enforcing penalties for violators reflects the country’s dedication to protecting children from harm and ensuring their well-being. The National Committee to Combat Human Trafficking continues to work towards these goals through various initiatives and partnerships.

In conclusion, the participation of the Ministry of Labour and the National Committee to Combat Human Trafficking in the Third National Forum for Human Rights underscores Qatar’s commitment to addressing child labor and exploitation in the digital age. By prioritizing the protection of children’s rights and implementing strict laws to prevent exploitation, Qatar is taking proactive steps to safeguard children’s well-being and ensure a safe environment for them to thrive. The forum highlighted the importance of collaboration and continued efforts to combat human trafficking and protect children from harm in the digital era.
