The Ministry of Education and Higher Education in Qatar, in partnership with the Ministry of Sports and Youth, has announced the launch of summer centres for this year. These centres will operate from July 1 to August 8 in 30 summer centres and youth bodies across the country, running for five weeks.

The aim of these summer centres is not just to provide entertainment for students but to also serve as platforms for personal growth and development. The Ministry of Education and Higher Education aims to discover and refine talents, strengthen experiences, and develop various skills among Qatari and expatriate students of public schools and Qatari students in private schools aged 6 to 18 years. Each centre will welcome 300 students for 11 hours daily between 9am and 8pm, promoting diversity and inclusivity.

Director of the Schools and Student Affairs Department, Maryam Al Buainain, emphasized that registration for the summer centres is open to all students, including those with disabilities, during morning and evening periods. The Ministry hopes that all participants will benefit from and enjoy the various activities offered in collaboration with the Ministry of Sports and Youth and other relevant authorities.

Fawaz Al Mesaifri, Director of the Youth Affairs Department at the Ministry of Sports and Youth, highlighted that over 450 events have been registered in various fields at youth institutions. These events include training and awareness workshops, capacity building and skills development, as well as competitions and sports activities to cater to the needs and aspirations of the target groups.

The Ministry has allocated 24 centres for boys and 6 centres for girls, which will host a variety of activities to keep the students engaged and entertained. Registration for this year’s summer centres will be available online on the “Maaref” portal for public services after the Eid Al Adha holiday. Interested individuals must attach their ID cards and secure the necessary undertakings signed by a guardian. These undertakings include a pledge to preserve the school environment, the guardian’s commitment to monitor the student’s entry and exit, as well as a pledge regarding the student’s health condition.

Overall, the summer centres in Qatar serve as valuable opportunities for students to not only have fun but also to develop important skills, talents, and experiences. The Ministry of Education and Higher Education, in collaboration with the Ministry of Sports and Youth, is dedicated to providing a diverse range of activities to cater to the needs and interests of all participants. Parents and guardians are encouraged to register their children for the summer centres to ensure they have a rewarding and enjoyable summer experience.
