Minister of State for International Cooperation meets with UN Under-Secretary-General

HE Lolwah bint Rashid Al Khater, the Minister of State for International Cooperation, recently met with HE Rabab Fatima, the Under-Secretary-General of the United Nations and High Representative for the Least Developed Countries, Landlocked Developing Countries, and Small Island Developing States. The meeting took place during the 79th session of the United Nations General Assembly in New York, where they discussed enhancing cooperation relations between Qatar and the United Nations, supporting and developing them, and cooperating with the least developed countries on various common interest topics.

During the meeting, both parties discussed ways to support and develop cooperation relations between the State of Qatar and the United Nations. They also focused on enhancing cooperation with the least developed countries and addressing a number of topics of common interest. The discussions aimed to strengthen the partnership between Qatar and the United Nations in supporting sustainable development initiatives and addressing challenges facing the least developed countries, landlocked developing countries, and small island developing states.

On the sidelines of the meeting, HE Lolwah bint Rashid Al Khater attended the signing of an agreement between the Qatar Fund for Development and the Office of the High Representative for Least Developed Countries. The agreement, totaling USD10 million, aims to support the Doha Programme of Action and monitor its implementation. This agreement underscores Qatar’s commitment to supporting sustainable development initiatives and addressing the needs of the least developed countries, landlocked developing countries, and small island developing states.
