Media Minister opens SPA Training Academy in Riyadh

The Minister of Media, Salman Al-Dosari, recently inaugurated the SPA Academy for News Training at the Saudi Press Agency building in Riyadh. This Academy aims to utilize the capabilities of the Saudi Press Agency and its connections to bring international experiences to SPA partners. The Academy will also make use of the expertise that members have gained over the past fifty years to benefit the news industry and qualify media cadres. The Acting President of the Saudi Press Agency, Ali Al-Zaid, emphasized that the Academy is a strategic project approved by the Board of Directors and will support the news industry through applied programs in partnership with international and local organizations, focusing on professionalism, accuracy, and objectivity.

The Academy’s CEO, Tariq Alsheikh, stated that the training calendar will be announced by the end of 2024, with a focus on programs for trainees from government agencies. In the coming years, the Academy plans to launch training programs for graduates in collaboration with the Human Capacity Development Program, the Human Resources Development Fund, and the private sector. Additionally, programs for journalists will be implemented and shared through the Academy’s digital platform and social media accounts. To enhance the training experience, the Academy has signed agreements with several organizations including the Technical and Vocational Training Corporation, the Saudi Data and Artificial Intelligence Authority, Imam Muhammad ibn Saud Islamic University, and MICROSOFT.

The inauguration of the SPA Academy for News Training marks a significant step towards enhancing the skills and knowledge of media professionals in Saudi Arabia.
