King Hamad of Bahrain: Olympic champions are an ‘inspiration’ for the future

His Majesty King Hamad bin Isa Al Khalifa recently praised Bahraini athletes for their achievements at the 2024 Paris Olympics. During a reception at Sakhir Palace, the King recognized the athletes for their unwavering determination and commitment to excellence in future competitions. The winners of the four medals, two gold, one silver, and one bronze, were honoured in the presence of His Royal Highness Prince Salman bin Hamad Al Khalifa and His Highness Shaikh Khalid bin Hamad Al Khalifa. The King awarded the athletes the First-Class Medal of Competence in recognition of their contributions.

The athletes who were honoured by His Majesty include Winfred Mutile Yavi, Ahmed Mohammed Taj Eddin, Salwa Eid Naser, and Gor Tigran Minasyan. Yavi won a gold medal in the women’s 3,000m steeplechase, Eddin claimed silver in the men’s 800m race, Salwa secured silver in the women’s 400m event, and Minasyan won bronze in the men’s +102kg weightlifting category. His Majesty expressed his wishes for their continued success in future international competitions, as well as commending them for their achievements.

Bahrain’s historic achievement of ranking first among Arab nations and 33rd globally out of approximately 204 participating countries was acknowledged by His Majesty. He congratulated the athletes on their remarkable success and appreciated the leadership of His Highness Shaikh Nasser bin Hamad Al Khalifa and His Highness Shaikh Khalid bin Hamad Al Khalifa for their efforts in advancing Bahrain’s sports sector regionally and internationally. The King also praised the collective efforts of the Bahraini sports community for propelling the country to competitive prominence.

The athletes expressed their gratitude towards His Majesty for the honour and unwavering support that contributed to their success. They pledged to continue striving for further achievements in future competitions while extending their thanks to His Highness Shaikh Nasser and His Highness Shaikh Khalid for their continued encouragement. His Highness Shaikh Khalid also conveyed his appreciation to His Majesty for his steadfast support of Bahrain’s sports sector, highlighting that the historic Olympic achievement in Paris 2024 is a result of His Majesty’s visionary leadership and unlimited backing.

The ongoing support from His Majesty King Hamad, His Royal Highness Prince Salman, and His Highness Shaikh Nasser for the sports sector in Bahrain was acknowledged by His Highness Shaikh Khalid. He emphasized that this support will continue to drive progress and elevate Bahrain’s sports to new successes. His Highness expressed hope for more achievements under His Majesty’s leadership and extended thanks to all those who have contributed to Bahrain’s success in sports both regionally and internationally.
