The Indian community in Bahrain gathered at the Indian Embassy to celebrate the 78th Independence Day with a flag hoisting ceremony led by Ambassador Vinod K Jacob. The event drew various representatives, business leaders, and families, creating a patriotic and vibrant atmosphere for Indian expatriates in Bahrain. Ambassador Jacob emphasized the close ties between Bahrain and India, thanking His Majesty King Hamad bin Isa Al Khalifa for releasing Indian prisoners under a royal pardon.

Acknowledging the significant contributions of the Indian diaspora to India’s economic growth, Ambassador Jacob unveiled two new community initiatives: the “Focus State” and the “Visit Embassy” programs. These initiatives aim to strengthen ties within the Indian community in Bahrain, with a focus on youth empowerment. The “Visit Embassy Program” provides students with the opportunity to engage directly with embassy officers through interactive sessions on international relations and diplomatic affairs.

The Indian Embassy also hosted two impactful photo exhibitions as part of the Independence Day celebrations. One exhibition paid tribute to the heroism of Indian soldiers during the Kargil War, while the other commemorated Partition Horrors Remembrance Day, highlighting the historical impact of the Partition. These exhibitions served as a reminder of India’s rich history and the sacrifices made by its citizens.

Independence Day celebrations continued at The Indian Club premises, where the national flag was hoisted, and the Indian National Anthem was sung. The club’s President, Mr. Cassius Pereira, delivered a moving speech reflecting on the enduring significance of Independence Day. This year’s celebrations showcased the growing and robust relationship between Bahrain and India, emphasizing the vibrant spirit of the Indian community in the Kingdom.

Overall, the Independence Day celebrations at the Indian Embassy and The Indian Club in Bahrain were a testament to the strong bond between the two countries and the significant contributions of the Indian community. Through initiatives like the “Focus State” and “Visit Embassy” programs, efforts are being made to foster unity and growth within the Indian expatriate community, particularly focusing on youth empowerment. These celebrations serve as a reminder of the shared history and values that connect Bahrain and India, reflecting the enduring friendship between the two nations.
