The Intaj Exhibition at Ajyal 2024 in Doha, Qatar will showcase 22 films highlighting the raw and unfiltered moments taking place in Gaza over the past year. These films, displayed at Msheireb Downtown Doha, span across various genres such as fiction, animation, and documentaries, showcasing the artistic community’s resilience in the face of immense challenges.

Fatma Hassan Alremaihi, the Chief Executive Officer of DFI and Festival Director, emphasized the importance of honoring the creative community in Gaza through these short films. She expressed that these stories not only depict survival but also demonstrate the enduring strength of artistic expression in difficult circumstances. This exhibition aims to amplify underrepresented voices that deserve to be heard and pay respect to the unbreakable will to express one’s truth.

Creative Director, Sheikh Khalifa Al Thani, highlighted the personal narratives of resilience portrayed in each film. The filmmakers’ creative storytelling journeys were deeply impacted by the horrors they witnessed, transforming their work into narratives of strength and hope that remain steadfast in the face of unimaginable suffering. Each film provides a unique perspective on resilience, courage, and humanity, seeking to enable a deeper understanding of Gaza and the Palestinians’ suffering.

Intaj: From Ground Zero Experience will showcase an anthology of 22 short films of resilience, led by acclaimed Palestinian filmmaker Rashid Masharawi. These films offer audiences an intimate view of Gaza’s enduring spirit, showcasing stories shaped by hardship and hope. The diverse group of filmmakers contributing to the project includes individuals such as Aws Al Banna, Ahmed Al Danf, and Neda’a Abu Hassnah, among others.

Ajyal 2024 will feature a total of 66 films from 42 countries, focusing on themes of resilience, hope, and community empowerment. Through thought-provoking narratives, the festival aims to resonate with and inspire audiences, showcasing stories from around the world that exemplify the courage and strength of individuals facing adversity. The exhibition at Ajyal 2024 promises to be a poignant experience, offering audiences a glimpse into the struggles and triumphs of communities like Gaza through the lens of talented filmmakers.
