The Ministry of Commerce, Industry and Investment Promotion in Muscat has taken measures to combat the rise of fake foreign investment license applications by announcing the suspension of applications for expats with limited skills. Skilled professionals working in companies are still able to apply, provided they meet the necessary conditions. The Ministry stated that this decision was made in response to the increasing number of fraudulent applications and in an effort to maintain the integrity of the foreign investment licensing process.

In a recent statement, the Ministry announced that the Investment Services Centre will be suspending license applications for expats with limited-skilled professions, as defined by the Ministry of Labour’s classification for private sector establishments. Skilled professionals working in companies are still eligible to apply, subject to approval from the company owner and proof of financial solvency.
