Indian School Muscat celebrates academic achievements

The Indian School Muscat (ISM) recently held its Annual Academic Merit Award ceremony on 8th August, 2024 in the school’s multipurpose hall. This event recognized the exceptional achievements of students and staff members who had excelled in their academic pursuits. The ceremony was attended by eminent dignitaries, including Chief Guest Prof. Mohamed Al Ismaily from Oman Dental College, Dr. Sivakumar Manickam from Indian Schools Oman, and Jaypal Manik Dethe from the Embassy of India to Oman, among others. The ceremony was a grand affair, with the school choir performing the national anthems of Oman and India and the head boy, Nihal Bhat, delivering a warm welcome address.

The highlight of the event was the recognition of 409 students (148 from the Middle Section and 261 from the Senior Section) and 87 teachers who received awards and merit certificates under various categories such as Chairman’s Award, President’s Award, and Subject Toppers’ Award. Additionally, 56 teachers were acknowledged for their 100% attendance and 31 teachers were honored for motivating students to achieve top marks in the CBSE Board Exams 2023-24. Vidhya Vishnu, who had previously received the School Level Award for Excellence in Teaching, was also felicitated during the ceremony. The awards were presented by the Chief Guest, Guest of Honour, Second Secretary of the Embassy of India, Board of Directors, School Management Committee, and the Principal of the school.

The Chief Guest emphasized the importance of education and urged students to strive for excellence. He quoted Nelson Mandela, stating that education is a powerful tool for changing the world. The Guest of Honour commended the awardees for their hard work and resilience, highlighting that anything can be achieved through determination and perseverance. The ceremony also featured musical performances by the Senior Section Choir and captivating dance sequences. A promo video celebrating ISM’s Golden Jubilee was released, showcasing the school’s commitment to inspiring and educating young minds for a brighter future.

The event concluded with a vote of thanks by the Head Girl, Gayathri Amar Kumar, who expressed gratitude to the students, parents, and teachers for their support. The ceremony not only celebrated the students’ accomplishments but also served as an encouragement for them to continue striving for excellence. Indian School Muscat remains dedicated to empowering its students and guiding them towards becoming visionary leaders and innovators. The ceremony was a significant milestone for the awardees and their families, highlighting their hard work and dedication to academic success.
