Fadel Al Oud, a member of the Muharraq Municipal Council, is expressing concerns about the safety of drivers on Avenue 65 in Durrat Al Muharraq. He is calling for the installation of traffic cameras to address the issue of drivers running red lights at the busy junction. The absence of cameras has led to an increase in traffic violations and accidents, with reckless drivers endangering the lives of others on a weekly basis. Al Oud emphasized the need for immediate action to prevent further incidents at the junction.

During a recent municipal meeting, Al Oud pointed out the dangerous nature of the junction, which has two closely spaced traffic signals that can confuse drivers. He emphasized that motorists blatantly disregard red lights, putting lives at risk with their reckless behavior. The municipal council had already recommended the installation of cameras at the junction to monitor and deter such dangerous driving practices. Al Oud hopes that the General Directorate of Traffic will swiftly install a camera to improve safety in the area.

The General Directorate of Traffic explained that while current monitoring systems prioritize speed and red-light cameras in other locations, Avenue 65 will be included in their future plans as more systems become available. Despite this assurance, Al Oud reiterated the urgency of taking immediate measures to address the ongoing danger at the junction. He appreciates the Directorate’s response but emphasizes the need for quick action to prevent further accidents and ensure the safety of all motorists in the area.

In light of the increasing number of accidents on Avenue 65, Fadel Al Oud is advocating for proactive measures to address the issue of drivers disregarding traffic signals. The reckless behavior of motorists not only violates traffic laws but also poses a serious threat to public safety. Al Oud’s call for the installation of cameras at the junction is aimed at monitoring and enforcing compliance with traffic regulations to prevent further accidents and protect the lives of those using the road. Immediate action is crucial to address the ongoing safety concerns and ensure a safer driving environment for everyone in Durrat Al Muharraq.
