The Ministry of Housing and Urban Planning in Bahrain is moving forward with plans to build 1,400 new social housing units in Salman City. These units will be constructed on Islands 10 and 11, with consulting studies already underway for the project. Gulf House Engineering has been appointed to supervise the construction of 720 social housing units on Island 11, while Salfo & Partners will oversee the construction of 682 units on Islands 10 and 11.

In addition to the social housing units, the ministry is also preparing to launch the first phase of construction for commercial markets and shops in Salman City in October. This phase will include the construction of 15 commercial shops, with ten of them located on Avenue 8307 in Block 583 behind Al Zahra Mosque. The second project will involve the construction of five commercial shops in Complex 580 on the Salman City coastline, offering a sea view with a distinctive “X” shape design.

The second phase of the commercial development in Salman City is expected to begin in the second half of 2025. This phase will include the construction of a general market with a rental area of 1,600 square meters, featuring sea view restaurants, eight commercial shops, 19 vegetable and fish stalls, a green space in the middle of the market, central air conditioning, and all necessary facilities, services, and parking spaces. Additionally, a large “hypermarket” with a total area of 2,500 square meters will be built on a land area of 6,500 square meters on Avenue 92 in Block 583.

These ambitious projects reflect the Ministry’s dedication to enhancing the quality of life in Salman City by providing affordable housing, essential services, and commercial opportunities for residents. The construction of social housing units and commercial facilities will not only address the housing needs of the community but also create economic opportunities and improve the overall infrastructure of Salman City. The development of commercial markets, shops, and a hypermarket will contribute to the growth and prosperity of the city, offering residents access to essential services and goods in their own neighborhood.

Overall, the Ministry’s initiatives in Salman City highlight its commitment to sustainable urban development and improving the living standards of its residents. By combining social housing projects with commercial developments, the Ministry is creating a well-rounded community that meets the diverse needs of its inhabitants. The construction of new housing units, commercial markets, and shops will not only provide housing and employment opportunities but also contribute to the social and economic growth of Salman City. With these projects in motion, Salman City is on track to become a thriving and inclusive urban center that offers a high quality of life for all its residents.
