The Qatar Rehabilitation Institute (QRI) at Hamad Medical Corporation (HMC) has recently launched the region’s first Neuro Vestibular Physiotherapy Clinic. This state-of-the-art facility is dedicated to providing advanced care for patients suffering from central vestibular disorders, which can disrupt balance, coordination, and vision. The clinic aims to offer specialized treatments tailored to individual needs, with the goal of restoring balance, improving mobility, and enhancing the overall quality of life for patients.

Central vestibular disorders occur when the part of the brain responsible for processing signals related to balance is affected. This can lead to symptoms such as dizziness, imbalance, and difficulty walking, severely impacting a person’s ability to perform daily activities. Studies have shown a high prevalence of central vestibular disorders among patients with neurological conditions like multiple sclerosis (MS), highlighting the importance of specialized care for these individuals.

Dr. Hanadi Al Hamad, Deputy Chief of Rehabilitation and Lead of Rehabilitation Therapy Services at HMC, expressed her excitement for the new clinic, emphasizing the impact it will have on patients with central vestibular disorders. The clinic combines cutting-edge technology with expert clinical care to provide personalized treatment plans, continuous support, and advanced tools such as wearable sensors and virtual reality to track and enhance recovery.

The launch of the Neuro Vestibular Physiotherapy Clinic at QRI represents a significant advancement in the treatment of vestibular disorders associated with conditions like stroke, MS, and brain tumors. Al Madzhar J. Ahmadul, Healthcare Services Manager at QRI, highlighted the clinic’s dedication to delivering the highest standards of care and its potential to significantly improve patients’ quality of life. The clinic is a testament to QRI and HMC’s commitment to innovation and excellence in patient care.

In addition to the adult population served by the Neuro Vestibular Physiotherapy Clinic at QRI, a specialized Geriatric Vestibular Physiotherapy Clinic at HMC’s Rumailah Hospital will focus on the unique needs of elderly patients. This specialized clinic will offer targeted interventions that enhance the quality of life for elderly patients, helping them regain their balance, mobility, and independence. Overall, the launch of these clinics represents a critical step forward in addressing the healthcare needs of neurological patients in the region.
