Hamad Medical Corporation (HMC) is gearing up to host a series of conferences and events in September with the aim of enhancing patient care and advancing healthcare delivery in Qatar. These events will bring together leading experts and practitioners to foster collaboration and share cutting-edge knowledge. Among the events scheduled, the ‘Best of ASCO 2024 in Qatar’ on September 6 and 7 will focus on cancer services and cover common and rare cancers, addressing the patient journey from early to advanced stages. The event will feature insights from the American Society of Clinical Oncology’s (ASCO) annual conference, a major event in cancer research where new research, treatments, and advances in cancer care are shared.

Dr. Mohammed Ussama Al Homsi, Conference Chairman, invites all those interested in clinical oncology and cancer care to attend the ‘Best of ASCO 2024 in Qatar’ for a stimulating and enlightening experience. The event aims to enhance collective understanding and improve cancer care practices to benefit patients worldwide. In addition, the institution will host the First Breastfeeding Symposium in Qatar on September 30 to align with the Baby Friendly Hospital Initiative’s goals within HMC. The symposium will focus on improving breastfeeding practices in health facilities and communities, covering all aspects of infant feeding to increase understanding and support for both mothers and babies.

A workshop on the WHO Rehabilitation Data System (RDS) in Qatar will also be held to enhance the quality and efficiency of rehabilitation services in the region. The RDS in Qatar aims to prepare indicators specific to the country and train HMC’s technical team on data capturing and processing. Moreover, September will be observed as ‘Pain Awareness Month’ at HMC, providing an opportunity to reflect on the needs of millions of people with chronic pain and ensure access to chronic pain treatment and relevant information. Awareness about chronic pain and education on pain management options will be highlighted on September 23 and 25 to benefit patients.

Furthermore, the HMC will observe Celiac Awareness Day on September 11 to create awareness about celiac disease, an immune reaction triggered by consuming gluten. The event aims to promote the importance of diagnosis and provide resources and support to those with the disease. Additionally, Pharmacist Day on September 25 will be celebrated by HMC with events highlighting how pharmacists contribute to improving healthcare by sharing knowledge, offering expertise, and advising on medication usage. Workshops will also be conducted for healthcare professionals on various topics including ultrasound guided regional anaesthesia, tracheostomy care, anaesthesia and pain management to enhance their skills and expertise.

In conclusion, HMC’s upcoming conferences and events in September demonstrate their commitment to advancing healthcare delivery and improving patient care in Qatar. By bringing together experts and practitioners, these events aim to foster collaboration, share cutting-edge knowledge, and enhance collective understanding in various healthcare fields including oncology, breastfeeding, rehabilitation, chronic pain management, celiac disease awareness, and pharmacist contributions to healthcare. Through these initiatives, HMC is dedicated to promoting excellence in healthcare practices and benefiting patients on a global scale.
