HMC convenes top cancer experts for Best of ASCO 2024 conference

The Best of ASCO 2024 Annual Meeting in Doha, Qatar, hosted by Hamad Medical Corporation in partnership with the Qatar Cancer Society, recently concluded with resounding success. The two-day event, held on September 6 and 7, 2024, at the Le Royal Meridien Hotel, brought together leading cancer professionals to discuss the latest research and treatment practices in the field. The conference, themed ‘Shaping Cancer Care Together’, provided a platform for participants to explore topics ranging from the management of common cancers to rare conditions, as well as advancements in emerging therapeutics such as immunotherapy, molecular precision medicine, and new symptom management approaches.

Dr. Mohammed Ussama Al Homsi, Deputy Medical Director for Education, Research, and Quality at the National Center for Cancer Care and Research and Chairman of the Best of ASCO 2024 in Qatar, expressed his satisfaction with the event, stating that it has once again proven to be a valuable opportunity for healthcare professionals to engage with the latest global research and treatment practices. The conference has reinforced the commitment to advancing cancer care in Qatar and has facilitated the exchange of cutting-edge knowledge, enhancing the collective understanding of cancer care. By addressing prevalent and rare cancers, significant strides have been made in improving patient outcomes and advancing the field.

Dr. Anas Hamad, Director of the Pharmacy Department at the National Center for Cancer Care and Research and Chairman of the Organizing Committee for the event, highlighted the importance of collaboration and teamwork in the success of the conference. With over 300 healthcare professionals, academics, students, and industry representatives in attendance, the event featured 41 lectures by regional and local experts and 38 scientific posters presented by cancer researchers in Qatar. The conference emphasized the integration of innovative research into clinical practice, focusing on emerging therapies and precision medicine to ensure that Qatar remains at the forefront of cancer care, offering patients the most effective treatments available.

Overall, the Best of ASCO 2024 in Qatar was a resounding success, bringing together healthcare professionals from various disciplines to discuss and exchange knowledge on the latest advancements in cancer research and treatment. The event highlighted the commitment of Qatar to advancing cancer care and improving patient outcomes through collaboration, innovation, and a focus on emerging therapies and precision medicine.
