Hamad Bin Khalifa University’s College of Public Policy’s Master of Public Policy program has recently achieved accreditation from the European Association for Public Administration Accreditation (EAPAA), making it the first program in the Gulf region to receive this recognition. The EAPAA is known for its role in ensuring the quality of public administration education by assessing programs against European Standards and Guidelines for Quality Assurance. This accreditation is a testament to the university’s commitment to providing high-quality education in the field of public policy.

In a statement, Dr. Ala Al Fuqaha, Acting Provost at HBKU, highlighted the significance of this achievement in showcasing the university’s dedication to offering multidisciplinary academic programs that contribute to the development of expertise and capacity in Qatar and beyond. He emphasized the importance of the College of Public Policy in fostering learning experiences that combine interdisciplinarity, ethics, and innovation in policy design and evaluation. This accreditation further solidifies HBKU’s reputation as a leader in public policy education and research.

Dr. Leslie Pal, Dean of the College of Public Policy, expressed his pride in the achievement, stating that it affirms the college’s position as a premier institution for public policy education and research. He commended the faculty and staff for their commitment to providing students with a world-class academic and professional training experience that equips them with the skills necessary to engage in policy making in Qatar and beyond. This recognition from EAPAA validates the hard work and dedication of everyone involved in the MPP program.

The accreditation process involved a thorough evaluation by experts in the field of public administration, who assessed various aspects of the program including the curriculum, research opportunities, and faculty qualifications. The EAPAA Accreditation Committee recognized several strengths of the MPP program, particularly noting the quality of teaching staff and their impressive track record in the field. This external validation from an internationally recognized body further enhances the reputation of HBKU’s College of Public Policy and its commitment to excellence in education.

The accreditation from EAPAA not only reflects positively on HBKU and the College of Public Policy but also has broader implications for the Gulf region and the Middle East and North Africa. By meeting the rigorous standards set by EAPAA, the MPP program has positioned itself as a leader in public policy education in the region, attracting students and faculty from around the world. This accreditation will also enhance the program’s reputation and facilitate partnerships with other institutions and organizations in the field of public policy.

Overall, the accreditation of HBKU’s Master of Public Policy program by EAPAA is a significant milestone that highlights the university’s commitment to excellence in public policy education. The recognition from this prestigious accreditation body validates the quality of education and training provided by the College of Public Policy and positions the program as a leader in the field. With this accreditation, HBKU’s MPP program is well-positioned to continue producing graduates who can make meaningful contributions to policy making in Qatar, the region, and beyond.
