Hafeet Rail, the developer and operator of the Omani-Emirati railway network, has appointed SYSTRA, a leading French engineering and consultancy firm, as the administrative and engineering consultant for the joint network. The agreement involves SYSTRA providing comprehensive technical support for the railway network, including contract management, overseeing the performance of contractors and suppliers, and ensuring compliance with all requirements and standards. SYSTRA will also manage the project schedule, review engineering designs, and supervise project execution up to the start of operations. This partnership aims to ensure the highest levels of safety and security, in line with international standards, for the UAE-Oman Rail Network.

Ahmed Al Bulushi, Chief Executive Asset Management at Asyad Group and Board Member of Hafeet Rail, expressed the importance of engaging a globally recognized leader like SYSTRA for the railway project. He emphasized the commitment to developing national talent in both countries by leveraging SYSTRA’s expertise and experience. Jean-Christophe Chuniaud, UAE and Europe Vice President at SYSTRA, highlighted the collaboration’s goal to provide innovative and sustainable engineering solutions for the UAE-Oman Rail Network project. This partnership aims to meet the highest international standards and achieve the project’s economic and social objectives.

The UAE-Oman Rail Network is expected to play a significant role in the infrastructure, transportation, and logistics sectors of both countries. By improving the connectivity of sea and land ports, manufacturing centers, and major markets, the network will facilitate trade and support the nations’ efforts to achieve sustainability and climate neutrality goals. The recent announcement of civil works contracts being awarded to an Omani-Emirati alliance and systems and integration contracts being awarded to a joint venture between Siemens and HAC reflects the progress being made on the joint network.

Overall, the appointment of SYSTRA as the administrative and engineering consultant for the UAE-Oman Rail Network project signifies a pivotal milestone in ensuring the project’s success. This collaboration brings together global expertise and experience to guarantee the highest levels of safety, security, and compliance with international standards. Through innovative engineering solutions and a commitment to the development of national talent, the partnership between Hafeet Rail and SYSTRA is set to propel the project to new heights of excellence and innovation. As the network continues to progress, it is poised to make a significant impact on the infrastructure, transportation, and logistics sectors of both Oman and the UAE.
