Exploring the Business Opportunities of Beekeeping in Oman

The Sultanate of Oman is currently hosting the 3rdinternational Bee Exhibition and conference “Africa Bee Expo2024”, organized by the Ministry of Agriculture, Fisheries and Water Resources. This event has attracted participants from 37 countries and aims to foster the development of beekeeping and create new business opportunities for small and medium enterprises. The opening ceremony was held under the patronage of Dr. Saud Hamoud Al Habsi, Minister of Agriculture, Fisheries and Water Resources.

The conference serves as a platform for exchanging scientific, technological, and cultural expertise on a global scale to enhance the professional and commercial capacity of beekeepers. This includes discussions on exporting to global markets, attracting investments in agriculture, and adding value to hive products. The event also aims to promote the use of hive products in tourism and alternative medicine, utilizing internationally approved products.

The four-day event features the participation of experts, researchers, and specialists from various academic and research institutions, as well as beekeepers, regional and international organizations, and private sector companies in the bee and honey production and manufacturing industry. Notable organizations involved include the Arab Beekeepers Union, the Arab Beekeeping Association, the European Bee Organization, the Al Baha Association in Saudi Arabia, and the International Federation of Beekeepers’ Associations.

One of the key focuses of the conference is the preservation of local honey bee breeds and ensuring the safety and quality of honey based on Gulf specifications. This includes discussions on best practices for maintaining the health and productivity of honey bees, as well as standards for honey production to meet international quality standards. Overall, the event aims to promote sustainable practices in beekeeping and honey production while exploring new opportunities for growth in the industry.

By bringing together experts and stakeholders from around the world, the conference aims to create a platform for collaboration and knowledge sharing in the field of beekeeping. This includes discussions on the latest trends and technologies in beekeeping, as well as strategies for improving production, marketing, and distribution of hive products. The event also provides a networking opportunity for participants to connect with potential partners and investors in the industry.

Overall, the 3rdinternational Bee Exhibition and conference “Africa Bee Expo2024” in Oman serves as a valuable platform for promoting the development of beekeeping and honey production, while also creating new business prospects for companies and individuals in the industry.
