Pole vault world champion Armand Duplantis and hurdles master Karsten Warholm went head-to-head in a 100m exhibition race in Zurich, with Duplantis coming out on top with a time of 10.37 seconds. The two athletes, known for their excellence in their respective events, engaged in some friendly banter that led to this sprint-off. Warholm, who finished second with a time of 10.47sec, will now have to wear a Sweden jersey in competition as per their agreement.

The rivalry between Duplantis and Warholm began after a training session last year, where Duplantis claimed he could beat Warholm in a race. Warholm, known for his ego and confidence, accepted the challenge leading to this high stakes sprint-off. The exhibition race attracted around 2,500 fans at the Letzigrund Stadium in Zurich, with tickets selling for up to 100 Swiss francs. The atmosphere was electrifying as the two athletes were welcomed to the track like prize fighters, with a glitzy walk-on setting the stage for an exciting showdown.

Duplantis used his raw speed to secure a dominant victory over Warholm, who could not catch up after a strong start by the Swedish athlete. Despite the loss, Warholm graciously congratulated Duplantis on his win and acknowledged his opponent’s impressive performance. The exhibition race was a clean and friendly competition, with both athletes showing sportsmanship and respect towards each other. The sprint-off was a thrilling spectacle for fans who were eager to see these two track legends go head-to-head in a different setting than their usual events.

The showdown between Duplantis and Warholm highlighted the friendly rivalry and camaraderie between the two athletes, showcasing their competitive spirit and dedication to their sports. Duplantis, a double Olympic champion and pole vault world record holder, proved his versatility as a sprinter with his impressive victory over Warholm. Warholm, a 400m hurdles world record holder and Olympic gold medallist, showed his sportsmanship and grace in defeat, setting an example for young athletes.

As the dust settles on the sprint-off between Duplantis and Warholm, fans eagerly anticipate their future competitions and potential rematches. The exhibition race served as a unique and exciting opportunity for fans to see these two track stars compete outside of their usual events, adding a new dimension to their rivalry. With both athletes showing impressive performances and sportsmanship, the sprint-off was a memorable moment in track and field history that will be remembered by fans for years to come.
