The Dubai Traffic Court has recently handed down a severe sentence to a motorist who committed serious traffic violations and drug-related offences. The accused was sentenced to two years in prison and fined Dh100,000 for consuming psychotropic substances, driving under the influence, and operating an uninsured vehicle with an expired licence on a public road. Additionally, his driving licence was suspended for one year, and he will be deported from the country after serving his prison term. The court also prohibited him from transferring money to others without permission for two years post-sentence.

The UAE has strict laws against driving under the influence of drugs or alcohol. Offenders can have their licences suspended for one year, face fines or jail time, and may have their vehicles confiscated. Driving with an expired licence or registration can result in a Dh500 fine and four black points on the licence, while driving an uninsured vehicle can lead to the same penalties, as well as confiscation of the vehicle for seven days. Counselor Salah Bu Farousha Al Falasi, head of the traffic prosecution, stressed the importance of obeying traffic laws to ensure safety on the roads.

It is crucial for all drivers to be aware of the consequences of violating traffic laws in Dubai and throughout the UAE. Driving under the influence of narcotics not only endangers the driver but also poses a serious threat to other road users. The authorities are taking a firm stance on such offences, as demonstrated by the recent sentencing of the motorist who committed multiple violations. By following the law and driving responsibly, individuals can contribute to creating a safe and secure environment for everyone on the roads.

The recent case of the motorist who was sentenced to prison and fined for serious traffic offences serves as a reminder of the importance of responsible driving and the repercussions of reckless behaviour behind the wheel. As such, all drivers should take these lessons to heart and act with caution and responsibility while on the roads.
