Dubai’s Roads and Transport Authority (RTA) has completed 20 out of 40 air-conditioned rest areas for delivery riders in key locations across the emirate. These rest areas offer amenities such as snack vending machines, water dispensers, and mobile phone charging stations, with space for up to 10 people. The initiative aims to improve the overall happiness and compliance of delivery riders with traffic laws.

The construction of these rest areas is part of RTA’s efforts to enhance traffic safety and achieve the Dubai Traffic Safety Strategy’s goal of ‘Zero Fatalities.’ The rest areas will be strategically distributed in areas with high demand for delivery services, such as Hessa Street, Dubai Marina, and International City. These locations attract a significant number of delivery riders due to the growing demand for goods.

According to Mattar Al Tayer, director-general and chairman of the Board of Executive Directors of RTA, the initiative aligns with the rapid growth of the delivery sector in recent years. There are currently 2,535 companies providing delivery services by motorcycles in Dubai, with a total of 40,088 delivery bikes in operation. The rest areas aim to provide a safe and comfortable space for delivery riders while waiting for new orders.

The completion of 20 air-conditioned rest areas is a significant step towards enhancing the overall experience of delivery riders in Dubai. The amenities provided at these rest areas, such as snack vending machines and mobile phone charging stations, aim to improve the quality of life for delivery riders and encourage compliance with traffic laws and regulations. The strategic distribution of the rest areas in key locations ensures that delivery riders have access to these facilities where they are needed most.

As part of the Dubai Traffic Safety Strategy, the construction of rest areas aims to reduce traffic accidents and improve road safety for all road users. The initiative is in line with the vision of ‘Zero Fatalities’ to rank Dubai as the best in the world in terms of traffic safety. By providing delivery riders with a safe and comfortable space to rest and refuel, the RTA hopes to create a positive impact on the overall traffic safety in the city.

The completion of 20 air-conditioned rest areas for delivery riders in Dubai is a testament to RTA’s commitment to improving the overall experience of road users in the emirate. With amenities such as snack vending machines, water dispensers, and mobile phone charging stations, delivery riders can now enjoy a comfortable space while waiting for new orders. The strategic distribution of these rest areas in high-demand locations ensures that delivery riders have access to these facilities where they are needed most.
