World number one Novak Djokovic recently made headlines after parting ways with his fitness coach Marco Panichi and bringing Gebhard Gritsch back to his team as a replacement. Djokovic is currently focusing on getting match practice at the Geneva Open to prepare for his title defence at Roland Garros, following a freak injury he sustained earlier this month. The Serbian tennis star has faced challenges this season and has yet to secure a tournament win in 2024.

Djokovic’s preparations for the French Open have been less than ideal, starting with a loss to Casper Ruud in the Monte Carlo semi-finals. He then decided to skip the Madrid Open and suffered a third-round defeat in the Italian Open, just days after being hit on the head by a fan’s water bottle while signing autographs. Despite these setbacks, Djokovic remains optimistic and stated that he feels physically prepared for the upcoming challenges.

In his latest match in Geneva, Djokovic will be facing German player Yannick Hanfmann, who previously defeated three-time Grand Slam champion Andy Murray. Djokovic explained his decision to participate in the Geneva Open, emphasizing the importance of match play in improving his form and readiness for Roland Garros. He expressed the need for more matches to fine-tune his game and regain the necessary level for success at the upcoming tournament in Paris.

The Serbian athlete has been working closely with his new fitness coach to enhance his endurance and physical strength required for the grueling matches on clay courts. Djokovic’s main goal is to play multiple matches in Geneva to build momentum and competitiveness leading up to Roland Garros. Despite his recent setbacks, Djokovic remains determined and focused on achieving success in the upcoming tournaments. Fans and tennis enthusiasts will eagerly await Djokovic’s performance at the Geneva Open and his subsequent campaign at Roland Garros.
