DAAM has recently signed a funding agreement with Katara for the “Qatar Cultural Encyclopedia” project. This project aims to provide a comprehensive archive of Qatari culture, focusing on linguistic explanations of place names, sites, and day-to-day vocabulary. It serves as a guide to Qatari society’s cultural, social, etymological, and cognitive aspects, as well as its relationship with the Arabic language.

Currently, 18 volumes of the Qatar Cultural Encyclopedia have been completed, with 12 already printed and six more in the process. The project is being overseen by Katara, under the guidance of Dr. Maryam Abdul Rahman Al Nuaimi and a team of researchers and historians. Their goal is to preserve Qatari cultural heritage, promote Arab and Islamic values and identity, and present the encyclopedia as a linguistic and heritage reference for the future.

Initiated in 2019, the “Qatar Cultural Encyclopedia” covers seven main topics, including daily life vocabulary, proverbs, expressions, marine life, plants, birds, insects, utensils, foods, and places. DAAM, since its establishment in 2010, has been involved in various cultural, social, sports, and charitable initiatives. Contributions from joint-stock companies listed on the Qatar Stock Exchange play a vital role in funding such projects, making these companies crucial partners in community development.

The agreement between DAAM and Katara highlights the significant role both organizations, along with the listed companies on the Qatar Stock Exchange, play in supporting cultural projects and activities in line with Qatar’s National Vision 2030. This partnership reflects a commitment to the development and sustainability of cultural initiatives that promote the rich heritage and values of Qatar.

Overall, the “Qatar Cultural Encyclopedia” project is a testament to the dedication and collaboration between DAAM, Katara, and the listed companies, in preserving and promoting Qatari culture and heritage. Through this initiative, they are not only documenting important aspects of Qatari society but also contributing to the broader goal of community development and cultural preservation in the country. With their combined efforts, the future of Qatar’s cultural legacy looks promising and secure.
