Salalah is a city in Oman, located in the Dhofar Governorate, known for its picturesque landscapes and unique culture. The Ministry of Economy recently organized a joint meeting in Salalah to discuss the requirements of projects that utilize the governorate’s comparative and competitive advantages. The meeting focused on supporting efforts to implement vital projects in various sectors in alignment with national plans such as Oman Vision 2040 and the 10th Five Year Plan.

One of the key topics discussed during the meeting was the development of the Al-Hafa area, the Wadi Anaar Dam project, nature reserves around Salalah Port, the new Qaboos Hospital project, Al Najd farms, Raysut industrial zone, Salalah Port, and housing and urban planning projects in the governorate. The meeting aimed to explore ways to enhance the potential of these projects and leverage the natural resources and strategic location of Dhofar Governorate to drive economic growth and development.

HH Sayyid Marwan Turki Al Said, the Governor of Dhofar, and Dr. Said Mohammed Al Saqri, Minister of Economy, were among the dignitaries present at the joint meeting. They were joined by Eng. Badr Salim Al Maamari, Secretary General of the Tender Board, as well as officials from relevant authorities in the governorate. The discussions centered on identifying opportunities for collaboration and partnership to ensure the successful implementation of these projects and achieve the desired outcomes.

As part of the discussions, visual presentations were made to showcase the potential of various projects and the impact they could have on the local economy and community. The focus was on promoting sustainable development practices and leveraging the natural resources and cultural heritage of the region to create a competitive advantage in the market. By harnessing these resources effectively, the governorate can attract investments, create job opportunities, and enhance the quality of life for its residents.

The meeting also highlighted the importance of aligning these projects with national development plans to ensure coherence and synergy with the overarching goals of Oman Vision 2040 and the 10th Five Year Plan. By integrating these projects into the broader strategic framework, the governorate can contribute to the overall socio-economic development of Oman and enhance its position as a key player in the region.

Overall, the joint meeting in Salalah underscored the commitment of the Ministry of Economy and the local authorities to drive sustainable development and economic growth in Dhofar Governorate. By identifying and supporting projects that leverage the governorate’s comparative advantages, the aim is to create a thriving and resilient economy that benefits both current and future generations. Through collaboration and strategic planning, Salalah and the surrounding areas can realize their full potential and build a prosperous and sustainable future for all.
