Bahrain supports international collaboration and economic growth

Bahrain is committed to advancing international cooperation in various initiatives aimed at fostering prosperity. This commitment was reiterated by the Minister of Finance and National Economy, Shaikh Salman bin Khalifa Al Khalifa, during his participation in a ministerial meeting with the International Monetary Fund (IMF) in Washington, D.C. The theme of the meeting was “A Fund for the Future”, which was held as part of the IMF and World Bank Annual Meetings. Shaikh Salman emphasized the Kingdom’s commitment to expanding and diversifying its economic base in alignment with the comprehensive development process of the country’s leadership.

Shaikh Salman highlighted the importance of international cooperation in accelerating economic growth, promoting green economies, and embracing technological advancements for sustainable development. He acknowledged the crucial roles played by the IMF and World Bank, and called for enhanced collaboration and efforts to achieve sustainable economic growth. The Minister stressed the IMF’s role in addressing climate change challenges and supporting emerging and developing economies. He also advocated for unified efforts to mitigate conflicts and support the pursuit of peace and prosperity for future generations.

The event was attended by Khalid Humaidan, the Governor of the Central Bank of Bahrain, as well as other central bank governors and financial institution leaders from the Middle East, North Africa, Afghanistan, and Pakistan (MENAP) region. Kristalina Georgieva, the Managing Director of the IMF, was also present at the meeting. The presence of these key figures underscored the importance of collaboration and cooperation among countries and financial institutions to ensure sustainable economic growth and development.

Bahrain’s commitment to advancing international cooperation in economic matters is part of its efforts to foster prosperity and drive growth in the region.
