The Ministry of Public Health in Qatar has registered nearly 9,000 food establishments in its electronic food safety system called Watheq. This system aims to provide high-quality services to enhance the health and well-being of the community. The registered establishments include eateries, kiosks, cafeterias, food processing factories, companies importing foods, and suppliers. By registering in the system, food establishments are monitored regularly to build trust with the Food Safety Department. The registration process can be done online by uploading the required documents. Owners are encouraged to register and communicate with the department for any technical issues.

Monitoring of food outlets is conducted by the Ministry of Public Health under Law No. 8 of 1990 Regulation of Human Food Control. This is part of the executive process of the Food Safety Department, which coordinates with other entities such as the Ministry of Commerce and Industry, the Ministry of Municipality, and Customs. The electronic food safety system also provides services like inspection of food consignments for export and re-export, as well as certificates for food export and re-export. This system is based on standard operating procedures subject to international accreditation controls, ensuring high standards of food safety.

The Food Safety Department plays a crucial role in implementing health policy related to food safety matters and carrying out powers under Law No. 8 of 1990 regarding regulating human food control. They conduct food control and inspection in places where food is handled to ensure safety and validity. Any food that does not meet specifications and requirements is prohibited from being handled in cooperation with competent authorities. This ensures that food establishments in Qatar adhere to strict standards of food safety to protect public health.

The Ministry of Public Health emphasizes the importance of regular monitoring and supervision of food establishments to maintain high standards of food safety. The coordination with various entities in the country ensures that all regulations are followed and that food products meet quality standards. The electronic food safety system enhances efficiency in monitoring and inspection processes, providing a streamlined approach to ensuring the safety of food products. This, in turn, builds trust among consumers and investors in the food industry in Qatar.

Overall, the Ministry of Public Health in Qatar is committed to promoting food safety and protecting public health through the implementation of strict regulations and monitoring processes. The electronic food safety system Watheq plays a crucial role in ensuring that food establishments meet the necessary standards and regulations. By registering and participating in this system, food establishments contribute to the overall health and well-being of the community. With regular monitoring and inspection, the Ministry aims to maintain high standards of food safety and provide quality services to the public.
