Qatari Shooter Rashid Al Athba Takes Fourth Place in World Cup Shooting Championship in India

The World Cup Shooting Championship for pistol, rifle and shotgun (men – women) took place in the Indian capital, New Delhi, for five consecutive days. The event saw the participation of champion shooters from various countries who had won colored medals in the previous season. Qatari shooter Rashid Saleh Al Athba impressed by clinching fourth place in the competition. The Qatari delegation was led by Ahmed Al Kuwari and included shooter Reem Al Sharshani.

During the championship, the Qatari team shooters competed in the skeet competition, with Al Athba securing second place in the final qualifiers for the men’s individual skeet event with a world record score of 124/125. In the final round, Al Athba put up an exceptional performance, ultimately finishing in fourth place. The top three spots were claimed by Italian shooters Cassandro Tamaro and Gabriele Rosati, as well as Indian shooter Naruka Jeet Singh.

Qatar has been making a mark in the shooting world, as evidenced by the team’s recent success in the Asian Cup for Shooting Clay held in Kazakhstan. The Qatari shooting team won a total of seven colored medals in the event, including a silver and three bronze medals in the skeet competition, and a silver and two bronze medals in the trap competition. The team’s consistent performance is a testament to their dedication and skill in the sport.

Shooter Rashid Saleh Al Athba’s impressive performance at the World Cup Shooting Championship highlights Qatar’s growing presence in the international shooting scene. Al Athba’s second-place finish in the men’s individual skeet event and fourth-place overall position demonstrate his talent and determination. As Qatar continues to produce skilled shooters, the country is poised to make even greater strides in the world of shooting sports.

The Qatari delegation, led by Ahmed Al Kuwari, Head of the Shotgun Department at the Qatar Shooting and Archery Federation, has been instrumental in supporting and nurturing the country’s shooting talent. With a strong support system in place, Qatari shooters like Rashid Saleh Al Athba and Reem Al Sharshani have been able to compete at an international level and make a name for themselves in the sport.
