Global Tour Showcasing Saudi Contemporary Art: ‘Art of the Kingdom’

The Museums Commission has announced the launch of a new art exhibition titled “Art of the Kingdom,” which aims to introduce Saudi contemporary art to the global stage. The traveling exhibition will showcase the best of Saudi artistic practices and help to deepen global understanding of the Kingdom’s evolving art landscape. The exhibition will debut in Brazil in November 2024, coinciding with the G20 Summit, before moving to Riyadh in early 2025 and concluding its global tour at the National Museum of China in Beijing at the end of the year. Titled “Poetic Illuminations,” the inaugural edition in Brazil will feature over 15 Saudi artists from diverse generations and artistic practices, displaying a variety of visual arts including installations, sculptures, oil paintings, and drawings.

The exhibition aims to empower and promote Saudi artists on the global stage, while also enhancing the cultural standing of the Kingdom in the international art community. By showcasing the diversity of Saudi Arabia’s cultural and artistic scene, “Art of the Kingdom” seeks to foster a deeper appreciation for Saudi contemporary art around the world. Through this groundbreaking exhibition, the Museums Commission hopes to highlight the creativity and talent of Saudi artists and provide them with an opportunity to connect with new audiences on an international level. This initiative is a significant step in promoting cultural exchange and dialogue between Saudi Arabia and the global arts community, opening up new possibilities for collaboration and cooperation in the field of contemporary art.
