The Shura Council reconvened in Bahrain, emphasizing the country’s dedication to democracy and human rights. The Chairman, Ali Saleh, praised King Hamad’s vision for the nation and highlighted the need for progress aligned with the will of the people. This session coincided with the celebration of the silver jubilee of King Hamad’s accession to the throne. Saleh also recognized Bahrain’s sporting achievements, particularly the medals won by Bahrainis at the Olympics.

During the session, Jamal Fakhro and Dr Jehad Al Fadhel were unopposed reelected as the First and Second Deputy Chairmen of the Shura Council. The session began with a reading of Royal Order No. (38) of 2024, which summoned both the Shura Council and the Council of Representatives for the Third Convening Period of the Sixth Legislative Term. Dr Anwar Al Sada was also appointed to fill the seat left vacant by the late Abdulrahman Jamsheer, who passed away in August.

Saleh outlined key legislative priorities for the coming months, including food security and the integration of artificial intelligence into parliamentary work. He praised the collaboration between the legislative and executive branches, particularly acknowledging His Royal Highness Prince Salman bin Hamad Al Khalifa, the Crown Prince and Prime Minister. Saleh also honored the nation’s security forces and remembered those who made the ultimate sacrifice, stating that their names will remain in Bahrain’s history.

In his address, Ghanem bin Fadl Al Buainain, the Minister of Shura and Parliament Affairs, congratulated King Hamad and Prince Salman, highlighting the importance of collaboration between the legislative and executive branches. He also honored the late Abdulrahman Jamsheer and welcomed Dr Anwar Al Sada to the Council, wishing him success in fulfilling his national duties. Al Buainain reaffirmed the government’s determination to continue working towards the betterment of the nation and expressed hopes for success in serving the country’s interests.

Saleh concluded his remarks by commending HM the King’s efforts and the Arab summit, stressing the importance of Arab initiatives in pursuing a two-state solution and addressing the conflict in Gaza. He also reiterated the objectives laid out in the Bahrain Declaration, issued during the Thirty-Third Regular Session of the Council of the League of Arab States at the Summit Level. Overall, the session reaffirmed Bahrain’s commitment to democracy, human rights, and collaboration between branches of government for the betterment of the nation.
