The State Audit Institution participates in the 10th Meeting of the GCC Ministerial Committee on Anti-Corruption

His Excellency Sheikh Ghuson bin Hilal Al-Alawi, Chairman of State Audit Institution, led the delegation of the Sultanate of Oman to the 10th Meeting of the GCC Anti-Corruption Ministerial Committee in Doha, Qatar. In his speech, he congratulated Qatar on assuming the chairing of the meetings and Saudi Arabia on being selected as Chairman of the GlobE Network Steering Committee for 2025-2027. He also congratulated the UAE Accountability Authority on being elected as a member of the Steering Committee for the same period. His Excellency highlighted the importance of utilizing specialized manuals related to disclosure and integrity promotion in state-owned enterprises to enhance the performance of anti-corruption agencies in the GCC states.

During the meeting, important topics such as Gulf Cooperation Council’s accession to the United Nations Convention against Corruption were discussed. Key manuals including the Manual of Financial Disclosure, Manual of Making Media and Awareness Content Available, and Manual of Integrity Promotion in State-Owned Enterprises in the GCC States were reviewed. The recommendations of the 2024 annual event were also discussed, along with selecting a topic for the 2025 event and planning interactive seminars for the future. The meeting concluded with a discussion on updating mechanisms for exchanging experiences and expertise between anti-corruption institutions and authorities.

At the end of the meeting, the winners of the first GCC competition for research and studies in protecting integrity and combating corruption were honored. Lieutenant-Colonel Saleh bin Salim bin Mohammed Al Habsi from Royal Oman Police won third place in the competition on the topic of The Regulatory Framework for Protecting Whistleblowers, Witnesses, Experts and Their Equivalents in Corruption Cases. Sheikh Mohammed bin Abdulrahman Al Thani, Prime Minister and Minister of Foreign Affairs of Qatar, met with the delegation heads participating in the meeting, exchanging friendly talks related to the meeting topics and expressing hope for successful joint efforts.

In summary, the 10th Meeting of the GCC Anti-Corruption Ministerial Committee in Doha, Qatar, led by His Excellency Sheikh Ghuson bin Hilal Al-Alawi, Chairman of State Audit Institution, focused on important topics such as specialized manuals related to disclosure and integrity promotion in state-owned enterprises. The meeting discussed the Gulf Cooperation Council’s accession to the UN Convention against Corruption and reviewed key manuals for promoting integrity and combating corruption in the GCC states. The meeting concluded with discussions on implementing guiding principles for exchanging experiences between anti-corruption institutions and authorities.
