His Majesty King Hamad bin Isa Al Khalifa has recently issued Order (38) of 2024, instructing the Shura and Representatives’ Councils to convene. The order states that both councils are called to meet on the afternoon of Sunday, October 13, 2024, to inaugurate the third session of the sixth legislative term. This directive has been made official with its publication in the Official Gazette.

The Shura Council and the Council of Representatives play crucial roles in Bahrain’s legislative process. The Shura Council, which consists of 40 members appointed by the King, advises on legislation and has the power to approve or reject draft laws. On the other hand, the Council of Representatives, with 40 elected members, represents the people and debates and votes on proposed legislation.

The convening of the third session of the sixth legislative term is significant as it marks the continuation of the legislative work carried out by both councils. During this session, various important issues will be addressed, and laws will be deliberated upon and potentially passed. This session is an opportunity for members of both councils to engage in productive discussions and make decisions that will impact the country’s future.

The publication of the Order in the Official Gazette ensures that all relevant parties are informed about the upcoming session. This transparency is essential for ensuring the participation and cooperation of all stakeholders in the legislative process. It also serves as a formal announcement of the King’s directive, emphasizing the importance of the upcoming meeting of the councils.

The Order issued by His Majesty King Hamad bin Isa Al Khalifa demonstrates the commitment of Bahrain’s leadership to upholding the democratic principles of the country. By calling for the convening of the Shura and Representatives’ Councils, the King is reaffirming his support for the legislative process and the role of both councils in shaping the nation’s policies and laws. This act highlights the King’s dedication to promoting open and transparent governance in Bahrain.

Overall, the upcoming meeting of the Shura and Representatives’ Councils holds great significance for Bahrain’s legislative agenda. As the third session of the sixth legislative term commences, members of both councils will have the opportunity to address important issues, debate proposed legislation, and make decisions that will impact the country’s future. With the support of His Majesty King Hamad bin Isa Al Khalifa, Bahrain’s legislative process continues to uphold democratic values and promote transparency in governance.
